My dad said that he had a beautiful countenance, and they had a great time speaking and eating breakfast in Heathrow airport

WARNING: Prepare to feel your heart break while reading what I am about to type. I will try to give you the most simple, shortest version possible. As a matter of fact, I’ll start from the end. (Btw, this is not fiction.) ~ When he was dying, I told him that it was okay to go. That this is going to be the last time we ever have to say goodbye again. He did not appear to be conscious. He looked like he was asleep, but then a few tears started coming out of his eyes and running down his face. About a little less than an hour later he died. I was laying next to him in his hospice bed, holding his hand while holding a stethoscope to his chest with my other hand. A second after I heard his last heartbeat I thought it must be because I shifted it accidentally or something. Nope. I heard his very last heart beat, and heard the silence right after that even louder when the next one didn’t happen. MY DAD AND I were very special to each other and torn apart starting when I was 5. (Divorce-> my mom moved me to a state over 1,000 miles away.) He had me for 12 weeks in the summer and 2 weeks at Christmas. We cried and cried hugging tightly the night before he drove me to the airport multiple times per year. I was a little kid that had no trouble navigating airports alone. He liked John Denver a lot. We both knew this song well enough that we pretended we didn’t hear it when it came on the radio. You’re going to think I’m being over dramatic when I say this, but every time I had to leave, the very last second before he disappeared out of my sight, he always had a big smile with his eyes welling up in tears that he was trying to hide, holding up two fingers signaling me the piece sign. (WHY DID JON DENVER ENJOY MAKING PEOPLE CRY SO MUCH?? He looked like such a nice guy!)

I am in my mid 60's and have loved John and his music since my early teens. I was heartbroken when he passed. The world lost an awesome artist that day. At least we still have his music.❤❤

spent years being mad at him for dying like that, and so young. I pray everyone finds enough forgiveness to share. it took me long enough. (I can't judge those who still place blame.) now, at last, I can enjoy hearing him again. and I do. God bless and keep you.🙏✝️🕊💜

I still remember seeing the pictures of the dreadful obliteration of the space craft and hoping against hope it was a ghastly error in visuals. I still cry when i see this and think of not only the lost souls who perished that day, full of hope and history, but of the dreadful price their families have had to pay in consequence. Day in day out. I hope they had no warning.... John your tribute remains sensitive, magnificent and as we know now you too are flying for everyone. With the angels. God Bless to all who perished and their families and to John akso whom i think of to this day xxx❤

I was sixteen, coming home after summer spent in England. I was so sad to leave my new found friends and all of the boys wanting to hang out with me because of my Indiana accent.(oh,and bangin’ body) This song was on the speakers when I got on the plane to go back home. I cried,cried,cried. To be 16!!
